Male Human Alchemist (Oenopion Researcher) / Master Chymist

Description:

- Born in the city of Oppara in the nation of Taldor
- Mikael was born as deformed child with little hope to be anything other than a disappointment to his parents
- At age 6 he was sent away to a boarding school outside the city where he could be left and forgotten about for long periods of time
- At this school is where he was first introduced to the art of Alchemy
- Over the years he learned much and became passionate about the craft of alchemy to the exclusion of most else
- By age 12 it had become apparent that what Mikael did with Alchemy went beyond simple craft and ventured into the realms of magic, this garnered the attention of a certain professor within the school by the name of Ruthel Kirrentis an Alchemist of some repute
- Under Prof. Kirrentis’ tutelage Mikael thrived and began to see the myriad possibilities that true Alchemy offered, particularly those transformative properties offered by the concoction known as a Mutagen
- By age 16 Mikael had already surpassed his teacher in everything he cared enough to learn and had strayed into dangerous research of the powers of the mutagen
- Mikael was warned by his Mentor repeatedly to leave well enough alone and that he could only do himself or others harm but he would not listen, consumed as he was by the hope that he could somehow heal his twisted form
- At age 18 he succeeded, he managed to formulate a concoction that would straighten his twisted form. However, the concoction needed to be taken regularly and what he had not realised yet was that he had already begun to lose chunks of time to his other self
- It was not long at all before his transformation from that of a cripple into an able bodied young man became known and far from being praised he was disparaged for his apparent lack of care in experimenting on himself and no one seemed to be happy for him
- Mikael’s curse became known both to himself and to the others of the school when someone caught sight of his alter ego sneaking back into the school one early morning. It seemed that all of his previous deformities had been merely suppressed and his twisted mien returned to him during his black outs
- Mikael was kicked from the school for the danger he presented and because he yet refused to listen to his betters and continued to experiment on himself
- He began to wander and over time and through his continued experiments began to be able to control when and where he would transform into his other self who he had learned wished to be known as Mephisto
- Despite his new-found control he could never fully eliminate his alter ego and so chooses to live a life constantly on the move so that others would not become aware of Mephisto and his crimes and finally make the connection that they are the same person
- In his 21st year Mikael arrives in Ustalav and stays in the city of Caliphas, where he learns of some strange murders happening in the city…
