Pathfinder - Carrion Crown

Adventure Summary - Prologue
Letter from Kendra Lorrimor

Dear Friend,

I hope this letter finds you well.
spacer-blank.png
It is with great regret that I must advise you of the passing of my father, Professor Petros Lorrimor. I have been tasked by Councilman Vashian Hearthmount, the executor of my father’s will, to summon you as you have been named in that document.
spacer-blank.png
This came as a great surprise to me, never having met you, however if my father held you in high esteem enough to be a beneficiary of his estate, then I can only assume you must be of good character. Consequently I hereby extend an invitation to you to stay at my home in Ravengro while you attend the funeral and subsequent reading of the will. It is the least that I can offer in these sad times.
spacer-blank.png
I have made arrangements for the funeral to occur on the 12th day of Rova 4711 and that the reading of my father’s final Will and Testament will occur later that afternoon. I look forward to meeting you and hearing stories of my father’s exploits.

Yours sincerely,

Kendra Lorrimor

Episode 1

SUMMARY:
The heroes meet for the first time and learn of Professor Lomminor’s Will….

EVENTS:
Having arrived at Ravegro, the heroes have realised that not all is it would seem in the small hamlet. After being confronted by thugs at the funeral of their late friend Professor Lorrimor, the plot thickened when the heroes were given custody of three rare and mysterious books, and the Professor’s journal. Contained within its pages were clues to what has been happening in Ravengro over the past few years, in particular the last few months.

Their investigations lead them into an old false crypt which contained unusual devices along with a small cache of magical equipment to help them on their quest. Having battle a couple of Giant Centipedes who has taken up residence in the crypt, the heroes returned to the home of Professor Lorrimor’s daughter Kendra to discuss what they had learned.

The following morning they were awoken to a strange happening in the town square. Upon entering the square, the heroes are confronted with quiet whispers and accusations toward them. Splattered across the town monument, a statue dedicated to the people who died attempting to save the Harrowstone prison was the letter V. What was worse, was that the letter was written in blood…

Episode 2

SUMMARY:
Investigations continue into the strange happenings in Ravengro….

EVENTS:
Having discovered the blood on the monument, the heroes were quickly accused of being responsible and were summoned to the Sheriff’s Office. During the discussion, Thorauk “Torel” Whurdukr, the Dwarven Paladin, also revealed that he detected a taint of lingering evil at the moment, and that there was someone in the crowd who was also tainted. Rurrt also revealed that to him the blood was clearly human, and it was not long before the question was asked how he could possible know the taste of human blood.

After the discussion, the Sheriff agreed to help the heroes investigate what had gone on while he conducted his own investigation. (More to follow)…

Episode 5

SUMMARY:
After collecting one of the three ingredients to the viralent plague threatening Ravengro, the heroes continue their search of the surrounding forest for the remaining two items, only to reveal a secret no one was expecting…

EVENTS:
Having made Thorauk comfortable, knowing that they would soon return for him, the remaining heroes set about to find the remaining 2 ingredients. After becoming lost, the group are set upon by a strange grey skinned creature, similar in appearance to a large Goblin. The creature was clearly looking for its next meal, but it obviously took on more than it could chew.

The heroes quickly dispatched the creature, and after a few words from the Inquisitor, to help the creature on its way into the arms of the Night Maiden (Pharasma), they continued on their quest. During the trip, they were accosted by another of the insect like creatures they had been attacked by in the tavern. Two sudden flicks from Rurrt’s daggers saw the creature wounded, as it took off into the canopy of the forest, allowing the heroes to continue unhindered.

After becoming lost for a short time, by late afternoon then stumbled across a large structure which was clearly of Dwarven architecture. Inside they discovered a very run down monastery that had at one time been dedicated to Torag, however its purpose appeared to have been changed some time ago to that of Droskar, an evil Dwarven god.

The heroes then conducted their investigation, locating a number of specimens of mushrooms required for the herbalists brew. Further into the ruins, a small child like grey skinned creature, different to that of the creature they encountered in the woods, left from behind a closed door. After attacking Rurrt, the creature quickly climbed the wall, and exited the ruins through a window higher up rear the ceiling. The heroes did not give chase, although they decided to continue on, more cautiously this time. Kalissa entered a large room which appeared to have been a library at one time. As she examined the books, she disturbed a fungus which shot spores into the air. Kalissa protected herself in the nick of time, and was able to grab an old tome containing a folded up scroll. The book was old, but was easily identifiable as the Holy Text of Torag. Whilst waiting for Kalissa, Rurrt opened one door which lead into a mostly dark room. Inside he found a temple dedicated to Torag which had also been defaced. Not understanding much in the way of religion, he moved on but not before being set upon by a pair of hungry wolves. The battle was swift, and the wolves were easily dealt with. Obviously they had been alerted to the group’s presence by the wailing of the young creature earlier.

The heroes followed the tracks left by one of the wolves that they had injured which lead them into what appeared to be an office of sorts. As they entered a gruff not quite human voice spoke.

“Who dares enter my domain?”

As the heroes drew their weapons, a large pair of red glowing eyes emerged from the darkness. A massive wolf crept from the shadows intimating the heroes. The inquisitor quickly changed tact and explained their reason for being there. The creature cared little for the concerns of the Gypsies and demanded the heroes do his bidding. Rurrt in the mean time recognised the markings of the creature being similar to that of the drawings of the children’s book he had been reading a week earlier. Could this creature be some type of shape changer? And where was the dagger that the story spoke of?

The creature, who introduced itself as Grey Pelt demanded the heroes clear his ruins of the vermin children, splitting their name in disgust. The creature indicated towards the Inquisitor, “Your kind”. The heroes asked how could they assist, at which time he explained that the children were residing in the tower near the front of the ruins. If they dealt with the children, they could explore as much of the ruins as they liked, taking only the mushrooms the heroes stated they required.

The heroes leave the company of the wolf and move to the tower. After forcing the door they cautiously enter the room only to be set upon by a monstrous spider. During the battle, Kallisa is poisoned and falls unconscious. With a flurry of blows from Rurrt, the creature is quickly dismembered. As the heroes search the room, the quickly realise that it was a trap, as Grey Pelt stands in the open court yard. The great wolf prepares to pounce, and it doing so mutters the words, “And now…you shall die.”
